Qualifications

The (life) coaching industry is a weird bag.  Technically anyone can call themselves a coach without any formal training or certifications.  But and also, various course programs and degrees are not always an indication of someone's actual skills. 

So what qualifies this platform and myself to offer coaching/mentorship services? 

Ultimately it is YOU that makes that determination if and when you choose to work with me. 

However, here is a broad overview of my personal and professional background, to paint a clearer picture of why I feel qualified to offer you coaching support.  You're also welcome to peruse my CV.

My scholarship is part of my activism and community building.  My professional development has always focused on advocating for and on behalf of communities caught within multiple intersections (between gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.) but I intentionally center and serve melanin rich people first and foremost.  

My lived experience:

  • I am a light-worker who thrives in the dark of darkness.   I am very intimately connected to and wholeheartedly embrace grief, shadow work and other unpleasantly uncomfortable but inevitably necessary emotions and processes.  I know how to hold space for the muck and alchemize it into magic.  And I do so in ways that invite fun, levity and beauty.  

 

  • I'm a Cancer Rising, Leo Moon, Virgo Sun.  My instinct upon immediate encounter/interaction is to nurture.  I feel deeply, unapologetically and ferociously and empathy is one of my greatest superpowers.  I use organization as a labor of love, often opting to create spaces that are safe, sound and sturdy to hold the fullness of what it means to be a complex, messy azz human.  

 

  • I am always in a state of active study and learning, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.  I offer what I learn as tools and resources for others to utilize and benefit from if they find the knowledge helpful. 

I myself have struggled with the titles coach/life coach because I don't wish to be perceived as someone who has all the answers. 

 

I most certainly don't. 

 

I'm not a guru nor spiritual savior. 

 

But I know I am a healer because people find my presence to be healing. 

 

I coach/facilitate/lead/guide by creating the container that allows you to witness the magic of your own excellence. 

 

I am your cheerleader, confidant and compassionate counsel whenever you request it.
